Plushie Profile: Walter the wolf

Today, I released a new plushie design for the first time in a couple of months! He's a little gray wolf named Walter and he's similar in style and shape to one of my most popular plushies, Felicia the fox. Walter is also several months in the making because I wanted to get his pattern just right and the first version of him was not exactly what I wanted. I'm super excited to have finally figured out the best way to shape his head and ears so I can share him with you guys!

Another change that I made while developing the wolf plushie that I'm releasing today is with his nose! Lately, I've been embroidering my characters' noses entirely with satin stitch. Because I wanted Walter's nose to be wider and a little bit bigger than I'm used to stitching with embroidery floss, I was having trouble getting all of the wolf noses to look right. In a test I did a couple of days ago, I tried cutting a nose shape out of felt and stitching that on the same way I add the eyes. I ended up liking it quite a bit more than the embroidered noses I was trying for this particular face! As you can see in the photo above (a three-leaf clover of plushie faces!), these noses are a little bit bigger than the ones on most of my other characters in this style. I think it gives him quite a bit of charm!

This week, I've really enjoyed getting back into the swing of designing a new plushie design and then making a whole bunch of them. It's so exciting for me to show you guys what I've been working on and to see whether you like them enough to buy one! I love seeing how happy my work makes people and I hope to continue designing some more adorable things in the coming months!

I've also been excited about the Game of Thrones tv show lately (and the new season that started airing on HBO recently), and I love the Stark family's dire wolves. Watching the show makes me wish that I had one of my own to protect me on my adventures, so that was one of my inspirations when I was designing this little guy. Honestly, that's the only part of the series that I imagine myself being a part of, and I definitely wouldn't want to live in that world if it really existed, especially as a woman. If I did, I probably wouldn't last twenty minutes. But it sure is exciting to watch from the safety of your living room, don't you think?

If you're interested in adopting a little gray wolf plushie of your own, head over to my etsy shop where I just started selling them! I hope you guys like them and I'm excited to work on my next new design.

I'll also be selling some plushies and necklaces in Manhattan, Kansas this Saturday (4/13) at a wizard rock show called the Hallows and Horcruxes Ball! If you live within driving distance, it'll be really fun and you'll get to hear my friends and I play some music as well! Hope to see you there! As a result, I'll also be pulling most of my stock out of my Etsy shop so I may run out of some items. If I do sell out, I'll spend next week making a whole lot of plushies so I can get them back into the store!
