When I first started this blog, one of the people who was the most supportive and excited about it was Evanna Lynch, the actress who played Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter films. I first met Evy last summer at LeakyCon and I was excited to chat with her about some of the fantastic things she's made. I shared the link to this blog with her on twitter when I was suggesting that she start her own craft blog, and she had a lot of nice things to say. To thank her for that (and because I knew she'd appreciate something handmade), I made her a custom plushie inspired by Luna's hare patronus and radish earrings.
I love knitting, but it takes more time than I'd like for a single project (I spent several months of my freshman year of college making my Hufflepuff scarf, for example). Because a little Ravenclaw scarf for the bunny would take much less time than a human-sized one, I was excited to add that as a little detail. I didn't follow a pattern; I simply worked on a few things until I got the stripes and the length/width just right.
I've also been working on my embroidery skills, so I wanted to add a little radish detail on the rabbit's body. I stitched the little green swirls, then added a bit of red felt over the knots. Before sewing it onto the rabbit, I added a few stitches of white embroidery floss to the bottom of the radish-shape.
I was so happy with the design of the bunny that I decided to work on a simpler version to sell in my Etsy shop. So I spent all day today making ten little bunnies! The one with the special embroidered details and handknit scarf is one-of-a-kind, but if you like it, you may enjoy this little lady, who I've named Eleanor:
This picture of all of the bunnies together remind me of Fluttershy's little rabbit friends in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, which I've been watching while I craft recently, heh. If you'd like to take one home, Eleanor the rabbit plushie is now available in my Etsy shop, FairweatherFriends.
